Tanzania’s Most Underrated Beach Town: Complete Travel Guide 2026-2027

Just got back from our university's Tanzania Student Group Safari Package and WOW! Top Guide Adventures absolutely nailed it. The logistics for our large group were seamless, and the guides were fantastic at keeping everyone engaged, especially with the educational aspects of the wildlife. We saw so much more than we expected and the accommodations were perfect for a student budget. Highly recommend for any educational institution planning a trip. This trip was everything we dreamed of and more. Top Guide Adventures put together an incredible 4 days covering both the vast Serengeti plains and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. We saw the Big Five, witnessed a river crossing (!!!), and the landscapes were simply stunning. The accommodation was comfortable and the guides were knowledgeable, answering all our questions about the wildlife and ecosystems. It felt like a truly authentic safari experience. We're already planning a return trip for 2026 to explore other areas.

The 3 Days Kilwa History and Beach Adventure was the highlight of our Tanzania trip. We spent ample time exploring the magnificent ruins of Kilwa, truly absorbing the history. Our guide was exceptional, sharing fascinating details at every turn. The beach portion was equally wonderful – relaxing by the Indian Ocean after days of exploring was pure bliss. We spent 4 Days in Mtwara and were so impressed by the natural beauty and friendly locals. The itinerary Top Guide Adventures put together was excellent, covering everything from the beaches to local markets and even some inland scenery. It felt authentic and off-the-beaten-path, which is exactly what we were looking for. The arrangements were seamless, and our guide was fantastic company. Opted for the 1 Day Uzi Island Hidden Zanzibar Experience as a day trip from Stone Town. It was a wonderfully serene day. We explored the mangroves, visited a local spice farm, and had a simple but delicious lunch. It’s definitely a less crowded experience than other parts of the island. The guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting facts about the island's ecosystem. While the pace was very relaxed, which was what we wanted, perhaps a little more scheduled activity would have been nice for a full day. Still a great way to see a different side of Zanzibar.

Our Tanzania Coastal and Island Tours were the highlight of our honeymoon! From the vibrant atmosphere of the coast to the tranquil beaches of Zanzibar, every moment was perfect. The company arranged everything flawlessly, from transfers to the most beautiful accommodations. We felt so well taken care of, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our special time together. The snorkeling and cultural experiences were exceptional. We can't wait to return for another adventure in 2026.

The 1 Day Pemba Flying Fox Forest Tour was a fascinating glimpse into Pemba's unique natural heritage. Seeing the giant flying foxes at dusk was quite an experience – they are truly enormous! Our guide shared interesting facts about the island's ecology and the importance of this specific forest. It was a different kind of wildlife viewing compared to a safari, more intimate and focused on a specific species. A worthwhile addition to our Pemba visit.

The 1 Day Prison Island tour offered a fascinating mix of history and natural beauty. Seeing the giant tortoises was incredible, and the old prison ruins have a poignant story. We enjoyed the walk around the island and the chance to snorkel in the clear waters nearby. It's a popular spot, so it can get busy, but our guide managed it well. A good half-day or full-day excursion depending on how much time you want to spend relaxing on the beach. We are planning our next visit for 2026.

This 2 Days Minziro Forest Birdwatching Tour was an absolute paradise for any birder. The sheer diversity of species we encountered was astounding. Our guide had an uncanny ability to spot and identify even the most elusive birds. The forest itself is beautiful and teeming with life. It was a peaceful and incredibly rewarding experience. The short duration was perfect for a focused birding trip, but I could easily spend weeks here. Top Guide Adventures delivered a truly special birding expedition.

This 2 Days Kigoma Waterfalls and Cultural Adventure was exactly what we needed for a quick but immersive escape. The waterfalls were stunning, and the cultural interaction felt genuine and respectful. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the local traditions and history.
