The Best 6 Days Midrange Safari from Moshi After Trekking 2026–2027 is a perfect Tanzania safari extension for travelers who have just completed Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru or another trekking adventure in northern Tanzania. After several days of hiking, early mornings, cold mountain nights and physical effort, this safari gives you the right balance of comfort, wildlife, relaxation and unforgettable scenery.

Starting from Moshi, this 6-day midrange safari takes you to some of Tanzania’s most famous northern safari destinations, including Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. It is designed for travelers who want more time than a 4-day or 5-day safari, especially after trekking, when a slower and more comfortable pace is important.

This itinerary gives you enough time to enjoy the Serengeti properly, experience the elephant-rich landscapes of Tarangire, descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater and finish with the scenic beauty of Lake Manyara. With comfortable midrange lodges or tented camps, a private 4×4 safari vehicle and a professional safari guide, this trip is ideal for Kilimanjaro climbers, couples, families, groups, solo travelers and photographers.

If you are planning a Tanzania trip in 2026 or 2027 and want to combine trekking with a rewarding safari, this 6 days midrange safari from Moshi after trekking is one of the best options.

Why Choose a 6 Days Safari from Moshi After Trekking?

Moshi is one of the main bases for Mount Kilimanjaro trekking. Most climbers finish their routes near Moshi and spend at least one night in town before continuing with safari. This makes Moshi a convenient and practical starting point for a Tanzania wildlife adventure.

A 6 Days Midrange Safari from Moshi After Trekking is better than a very short safari because it gives your body time to recover while still allowing you to enjoy Tanzania’s best wildlife areas. After trekking, you may feel tired from altitude, long walking days and limited sleep. A 6-day safari gives you a slower pace, more comfortable accommodation and less rushing between destinations.

This safari is perfect for:

  • Kilimanjaro climbers after Machame, Marangu, Lemosho, Rongai, Umbwe or Northern Circuit routes
  • Mount Meru trekkers finishing in Moshi or Arusha
  • Travelers who want a safari extension after trekking
  • Couples celebrating a successful summit
  • Families looking for comfort after an active trip
  • Groups and friends after Kilimanjaro
  • Solo travelers joining a private or small group safari
  • Photographers who want more time in Serengeti
  • Travelers planning Tanzania safari holidays in 2026–2027

A midrange safari gives more comfort than a camping safari but remains more affordable than a luxury safari. You can enjoy proper beds, private bathrooms, good meals, reliable transport and professional guiding without paying premium luxury lodge prices.

Spectacular Crater Views and Diverse Wildlife
David R. · UK · 16 Jun 2026

We did a combined Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara Safari recently and were thoroughly impressed. Lake Manyara offered a beautiful landscape with its hippo pools and diverse birdlife, and we were lucky enough to spot the famous tree-climbing lions! The Ngorongoro Crater, as always, was a wonder. The density of animals within the caldera is phenomenal – we saw black rhinos, lions, elephants, and so much more, all within a few hours. The scenery is just stunning. Our guide was exceptional, pointing out hidden animals and providing fascinating insights into the ecosystem. A truly memorable safari experience that showcased the best of these two iconic locations.

Fantastic Day Trip to Arusha National Park!

We took the 1 Day Arusha National Park Safari last week and it was a perfect escape from the city. Despite being a shorter trip, we saw a surprising amount of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, various antelopes, and lots of colorful birds. The highlight was definitely seeing Mount Meru in the background and enjoying the beautiful Momella Lakes. Our guide was friendly and efficient, making sure we maximized our time in the park. It's a great option for a day trip if you're staying in Arusha and want a taste of Tanzanian wildlife and stunning landscapes without committing to a longer safari. Highly recommend for a convenient and enjoyable experience.

Day 1:

Moshi to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Moshi, your safari guide will meet you for a briefing before starting your journey to Tarangire National Park. Since this safari is designed for travelers coming from trekking, the departure can be flexible depending on your energy level. However, an early departure is recommended to maximize your wildlife viewing time.

The drive from Moshi takes you through northern Tanzania’s countryside, passing local towns, farms, open plains and scenic landscapes. After several days on the mountain, the warm savannah environment feels refreshing and completely different from the trekking experience.

Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant herds, giant baobab trees and seasonal wildlife concentration along the Tarangire River. It is one of the best parks to begin a safari because it offers beautiful landscapes and excellent chances to see animals on the first day.

Once inside the park, you will begin your game drive. You may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, baboons and many bird species. Predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs may also be seen, depending on luck and season.

You will enjoy lunch inside the park or at a picnic area, then continue with an afternoon game drive. Later, you will drive to your midrange lodge or tented camp near Tarangire, Lake Manyara or Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

After trekking, this first safari night is a welcome opportunity to enjoy a hot shower, comfortable bed and peaceful rest.

Main Activities: Drive from Moshi, Tarangire game drive, wildlife viewing and photography.

Meals: Lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Midrange lodge or tented camp near Tarangire, Lake Manyara or Karatu.

Day 2:

Tarangire / Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will leave your lodge and begin the journey toward Serengeti National Park. This is one of the most scenic travel days of your safari. The route may pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, highland landscapes, Maasai communities and open plains before reaching the Serengeti.

Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous safari destination and one of the most iconic wildlife areas in Africa. It is known for endless plains, big cats, the Great Migration and classic safari scenery.

As you enter Serengeti, you will enjoy an en-route game drive while heading toward your accommodation. You may see lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, hyenas and many birds. Cheetahs may be seen in open grasslands, while leopards are sometimes spotted resting in trees.

In the late afternoon or evening, you will arrive at your midrange tented camp or lodge in Serengeti. After check-in, you can relax, enjoy dinner and listen to the natural sounds of the wilderness.

Main Activities: Scenic transfer to Serengeti, en-route game drive and afternoon wildlife viewing.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Midrange tented camp or lodge in or near Serengeti National Park.

Day 3:

Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Day 3 is dedicated to a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park. This is one of the main advantages of choosing a 6-day safari after trekking. You get more time in the Serengeti, better wildlife opportunities and a more relaxed pace.

After breakfast, you will leave with packed lunch and spend the day exploring different wildlife areas. Your guide will choose the best routes based on the season, animal movement, weather and recent sightings. Serengeti is a large park, so having a knowledgeable guide is very important.

You may see lions resting on kopjes, elephants moving across the plains, giraffes feeding from acacia trees, cheetahs watching for prey, hyenas patrolling open areas, hippos resting in pools and herds of zebras or wildebeest grazing. Birdlife is also excellent, with eagles, vultures, rollers, storks and many other species.

If your travel dates match the right location of the Great Migration, you may see large herds of wildebeest and zebras. However, the migration is natural and changes with rainfall and grazing conditions, so sightings depend on season and route.

In the evening, you will return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Main Activities: Full-day Serengeti game drive, wildlife viewing, photography and wilderness experience.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Midrange tented camp or lodge in Serengeti National Park.
Day 4:

Another Serengeti Game Drive – Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Your day begins with breakfast at the camp or lodge, followed by another morning game drive in Serengeti. Morning is a great time to look for predators because animals are usually more active before the day becomes hot. Lions may still be moving, cheetahs may be scanning the plains and hyenas may be returning from night activity.

This extra Serengeti game drive makes the 6-day itinerary stronger than shorter safaris. It gives you more chances to see wildlife you may have missed on the previous day, such as leopard, cheetah, large lion prides or special bird species.

After the morning game drive, you will begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will continue enjoying en-route wildlife viewing as you leave Serengeti. The drive offers beautiful scenery, open landscapes and possible Maasai cultural views along the way.

Later in the day, you will arrive near Ngorongoro Crater or Karatu for dinner and overnight stay. The highland area is cooler and peaceful, making it a relaxing stop before your crater game drive the next day.

Main Activities: Morning Serengeti game drive, en-route wildlife viewing and transfer to Ngorongoro area.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Midrange lodge or tented camp near Ngorongoro or Karatu.
Day 5:

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Overnight Near Lake Manyara or Karatu

After early breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor for a game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and wildlife-rich safari destinations, making it a highlight of this 6-day safari.

The crater floor contains grasslands, forests, swamps, lakes and open plains. This variety of habitats supports many animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, jackals, warthogs and many bird species. If you are lucky, you may see the rare black rhino from a distance.

Because wildlife is concentrated inside the crater, Ngorongoro is especially rewarding for travelers who want strong wildlife viewing within a limited area. The scenery is also dramatic, with steep crater walls surrounding the open floor.

After your game drive and picnic lunch, you will ascend from the crater and drive toward Karatu or the Lake Manyara area for dinner and overnight stay. This makes the final day easier and positions you well for Lake Manyara National Park before returning to Moshi or Arusha.

Main Activities: Ngorongoro Crater game drive, wildlife viewing, photography and transfer to Karatu or Lake Manyara area.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Midrange lodge or tented camp near Karatu or Lake Manyara.
Day 6:

Lake Manyara National Park – Return to Moshi, Arusha or Airport

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for your final game drive. Lake Manyara is a scenic park located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. It is smaller than Serengeti and Tarangire, but it offers beautiful landscapes and a different safari experience.

The park is known for groundwater forest, lake views, baboons, elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and rich birdlife. Depending on water levels and season, flamingos and other water birds may be seen around the lake. Lake Manyara is also known historically for tree-climbing lions, although sightings are not guaranteed.

This final game drive gives you a relaxed ending to your 6-day safari. After lunch, you will drive back to Moshi, Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport depending on your onward travel plan.

This marks the end of the Best 6 Days Midrange Safari from Moshi After Trekking 2026–2027.

Main Activities: Lake Manyara game drive, scenic views, wildlife viewing and return transfer.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch.

Drop-Off: Moshi, Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
